Trends in Educational Research is a scholarly international open access journal. It publishes extended full-length research papers that have the scope to substantively address current issues in education. There is no restriction on the length of the papers relevant to any field of study within education. Submissions that synthesize information from disparate backgrounds, place research findings within a broad context, extend our methodological and theoretical understanding, and have the likelihood of informing education policy and practice, are preferred. The journal publishes quantitative, qualitative and mixed method research papers. Extended reviews of substantive research studies and/or technical reports published elsewhere are also welcome. As an open-access, peer-reviewed journal, Trends in Educational Research has a wide, global reach. Articles are intended to provide the entire education community with new understanding and offer insights informed by sound theoretical frameworks and evidence-based inquiry.
The journal encourages all philosophical points of view, grounded primarily in well-designed empirical research, utilizing a variety of methodologies. Interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary work is welcome. Cross-cultural and/or cross-national studies that contribute to new knowledge are highly desirable. In addition to critique, the journal seeks innovative thinking around new and promising practices and policies in every setting.
